4.5/5 ★ – Elir_Roman's review of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

I was super surprised by how quickly this hooked me. I was always more of a Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter kid (my parents didn’t like the titles of the original games lol), but this exceeded so many expectations. I heard it was good and the trailers with the PS5 launch were exciting, but I didn’t expect the feel of the game to feel so seamless. I almost just love running around and jumping, boosting, climbing, and smashing boxes more than actively progressing the story. Which is fine btw. Its amusing and silly lol. This seemed to start a trend after Uncharted 4 of open levels and I’m gonna be honest… we gotta move on. God of War (18 and Ragnarok) approach it this way too, and I’m not a fan. Just feels like they’re filling it with busy work and I get distracted cause I want to see everything, but a lot of it just empty space anyways?? Its fun to ride around and listen to conversations, but I don’t like that design at all. Feels tedious and overtly manufactured to keep your mind busy. Tighten up the levels a bit, or just move on. Other than that, this game rules. I platinumed it in 3 sittings. 12.5 hours. 🫡
