3.5/5 ★ – Empyrean's review of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen.

Even returning to Witch Queen with no expectations, I still don’t see it as the huge leap in quality for D2 expansions that many claim it to be. Sure, it fixes a lot of issues (mission structure, crafting, a compelling villain) but some things remain poor or downright worse (throne world is one of the most tedious destinations to traverse, tonal inconsistencies, nothing happens for most of the story). The high points are definitely the rare instances that Savathun, helped by a career best performance from the always reliable Debra Wilson, actually appears, and Vow of the Disciple is probably the best new raid until that point. A mixed bag overall, but definitely more positive than negative (even if the latter is foreshadowing for Lightfall).
