2.5/5 ★ – Empyrean's review of Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil.

Incase the Half-Life influence wasn’t blatantly obvious in the base game: you now have a gravity gun. Resurrection of Evil is kinda like what Doom 2 was to the original. It’s inferior in most ways, but it has the Super Shotgun. That’s being unfair to D2 though, as at least that’s fun to play. RoE makes the mistake of trying to course correct Doom 3 to being more in-line with the prior games, stripping it of its main strengths. The writing is also pretty atrocious and clearly done by a new team (“He tried to hit me with a fireball, but I grabbed it and threw it right back at him!”) But it’s a lot shorter, has some “new” enemies, and, as mentioned, has the Super Shotgun (still not as good as past iterations though).
