4/5 ★ – Empyrean's review of Hitman: Contracts.

Contracts is sometimes written off as Silent Assassin 1.5, and I think that’s largely unfair considering how much better and more refined it is. Whilst the concept of revisiting remade levels from the deeply flawed Codename 47 is fun in theory, in reality it does sour the overall experience as the new maps are some of the best in the franchise, especially Romania and the UK (superior to the one in H3). The darker atmosphere is also a nice change and fits thematically. If Contracts had stuck exclusively to new levels it could have been one of the best entries in the series. As it is it merely has to settle for being the second best of the pre-WoA era.
