3.5/5 ★ – Empyrean's review of Valiant Hearts: The Great War.

Nothing evokes the horrors of war quite like rhythm based vehicle gameplay! This wasn’t quite the masterpiece I remember. While it’s art style remains gorgeous and the set-pieces powerful, it’s still a Ubisoft game which means it’s a buggy mess with annoying characters (well, only the dog but it’s REALLY annoying). There’s also a lot of tonal whiplash and it’s far too long, even if the individual segments are paced quite well. Despite all that it’s still well worth a play and is one of Ubisoft’s last good games before they went on to be THE worst AAA company. The fact that the team who made this vehemently anti-war game went on to make Ghost Recon: Breakpoint will never not be funny to me.
