4/5 ★ – Endless_backlog's review of BioShock.

The unveiling of Rapture was one of the best game intros I’ve played. I’m a big fan of 1950s style atmospheres and this game fell into this with its visual, audio and even gun styles. The concept of using Adam to generate powers kept the game really interesting, and the game made sure to make you use these for other purposes than just killing baddies. The idea of innocent girls being used as a host for the Adam slugs and forced to extract them was dark - I liked the fact the big daddy’s wouldn’t attack unless they felt the little sister was provoked. The main story was fun although felt a bit underwhelming and the final boss was underpowered. You are judged on the decisions you make to save the little sisters or harvest them for Adam to make the game easier for you. Upon completing the game I found out there is 3 endings, although I fell in between good and bad, it was a bit of a cheap ending to make my mixed approach the same as the bad one but with “sinister undertone music” playing.
