3/5 ★ – Endless_backlog's review of James Bond 007: Nightfire.

My only memory of a bond game was Rogue agent and looking at the reviews I think my young mind was impressionable to think that was a good standard! In Nightfire, you are given no introduction to your gadgets so at first it can be confusing to know when to apply them, but once used to it it’s like all the old James Bond films with special gadgets. Having to utilise them throughout the game makes this a real Bond game and not just a shooter! The level design is brilliant. With a wide variety of settings both on foot and in vehicles - particularly enjoyed the underwater car and jet ski. The game does suffer from a couple of different things. It doesn’t offer checkpoints and requires you to replay entire missions if you fail before completion, which is just not fun to do over and over again. The shooting is also pretty clunky for a fps. The game is also a bit outdated.. but does follow the films it’s supposed to and has Bond all over every girl that makes an appearance. All in all the gadget aspect makes this game unique and definitely worth a play through, despite a lack of a substantial antagonist! I will also always be a sucker for a classic linear game.
