2.5/5 ★ – Endless_backlog's review of Rugrats: Search for Reptar.
Rugrats search for reptar is essentially a single world (the Pickle house) with multiple side missions. The goal is to complete each mission and gain their respective Raptor jigsaw puzzle piece - completing the game after gaining all 12.
There’s several fun levels. My favourite probably being the “let there be light” mission, although I did always like the horror aspect in kids game I.e. The Simpsons treehouse of horror!
There’s also a few mini activities available in the main menu such a collecting Easter eggs and playing mini golf - although these are also part of the main story.
I liked that you can complete the game quicker by finding reptar pieces. Earning a puzzle piece after so many. This is good as it lets kids complete the game without having to complete the more difficult levels. The drawback to this is that once the puzzles complete it refreshes everything again, and if you want to have a go at all the missions, you can’t play the hard levels until you have about 5 puzzle pieces back.
I liked the fun innocent humour in the game such as pronouncing things wrong, and silly impressions of things - “the refrigerator is where the light is stored”.
Overall, on replay, the game kills a few hours and is a big nostalgia dose, so cannot complain! There is creativity in level design and probably a different take on games of the time not being linear.
