3.5/5 ★ – Endless_backlog's review of Tekken 7.

Tekken 7s campaign follows the same system as other fighting games, with cut scenes woven inbetween fights. It did strangely make rare use of QTE, but not enough to merit their inclusion. The storyline itself is pretty decent and one that requires no back knowledge of the previous games to follow, and is short in length at around 2 hours. The fights themself are a good level of difficulty, surprisingly each one keeps a secret how many rounds there are. Particularly enjoyed the final battles many forms, although the difficulty for this fight was insane and a dramatic increase to any others. A lot of the classic fighters on the roster don’t appear in the campaign which I was a bit gutted about. Would loved to have played a chapter as King after all the years since Tekken 3. They are playable in an area called “character episodes” which lets you select each of the roster and play a chosen fight with a cut scene included. These were a pretty cool inclusion and some added some good humour. Although why did Jack 6s intro say he was fighting Gigas and then he was faced with King?? Also found the graphics to be really good for the fighters and the backdrops in each area, both in the campaign and character episodes. The inclusion of Negan was pretty random. Much more of like Mortal Kombat to include characters from other franchises, although it’s disappointing you have to buy DLC and can’t earn it through gameplay. There’s also a tonne of customisations you can make to characters appearance. My favourite was turning Panda into a giant Red Panda or making Jack 7 look like a rock em sock em’ robot (in my opinion).
