4/5 ★ – ErDiCooper's review of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3.

It's tricky to review games so thoroughly outside my genres of interest, and I can't think of much that gets farther than Musou games! However! I found that the usual trappings of the Musou genre (that is, running around in big fields, hitting dozens of enemies at once, etc) lends itself very well to One Piece! It might be feel a little silly for a "realistic" samurai character to hit 20 enemies at once, but a rubber guy with inflateable fists? Sure! And taking it further, this game expresses a genuine affection for the long-running franchise. There's TONS of replayability in chasing "treasure events" and special unlocks that all stem directly from either smaller, more personal moments between characters. There are others even devoted to throwing unfamiliar characters together for some genuinely fun moments. Ultimately, this is a button mashy game that, if you're not IN on games like it, you might find works best a podcast game, rather than a standalone experience. And, despite how that sounds, it's terrific for that task and proves to be a delightful trip down memory lane for fans of the series.
