3/5 ★ – ErDiCooper's review of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd.

As with Trails in the Sky SC, I do not recommend that you play this game without having played the previous games in the Trails in the Sky trilogy. If you have, however? If you go into it expecting a side game that goes LIGHT on plot and HEAVY on character, Trails in the Sky 3rd is a pretty good game! If you're really desperate to know what happens next in Zemuria, this game might be a bit of a struggle, as the story itself lifts very easily out of the goings-on of the rest of the world and centers around a pair of characters you don't know well! However, it also provides the opportunity to follow through on some of the plot arcs presented by the previous games in the trilogy. Most of these are pretty fun, and if ever you find one you don't care about, it probably won't take too long either. What holds this back from a 4/5 for me is a pair of things. First of all, the "biggest" story elements of this game lean a bit on some preeeeetty edgy storytelling, which, you know. To each their own. The other issue that I had was that this game, partially by its status as kind of an "extra" game, goes really hard on giving familiar players heightened combat challenges... and I just didn't want that. In fact, I even went as far as to edit the hex code of my file just to give myself a more comfortable time. But as I write this, even I recognize how subjective these complaints are! It is very likely that another player will enjoy them much more than I did. And, if you ARE like me, you'll still have a pretty good experience with this game.
