5/5 ★ – EthanTheHuman's review of Undertale.

I started playing Undertale on Switch in the weeks leading up to Switch 2 because I was feeling that Switch 2 hype and wanted to jump onto Deltarune on launch day. The game has been out a long time and I was on the internet all these years so obviously I knew a lot of things about this game going into the game, some things I definitely would have enjoyed not knowing about but I still had an amazing time playing through the pacifist run. The mid-2010's humor is still endearing and charming which is really important because the story, pacing, dialogue and music are basically the reason you're playing the game. The gameplay itself is moreso a means to convey these things, and the bullet hell bossfights themselves are fun but it's not like a Bayonetta or something where I'm wanting to rush to the next fight. And the graphics while charming are still very basic, especially in the environments and UI. That doesn't matter though because this game is moreso a story and it's a great story with memorable characters. All the main NPCs are great and I really enjoyed my time with them going through the quests and because of that I got really emotional in a lot of the pivotal scenes. As a guy who normally skips cutscenes it's actually a big deal for me to have a game move me as much as this game has. I definitely recommend this game to anyone curious!
