5/5 ★ – FallenSnowKiku's review of The MISSING: J.J. Macfield and the Island of Memories.
Let me get this out of the way first:
The game can be a bit janky, the voice acting leaves a lot to be desired, and the puzzles occasionally too obscure.
Those are the literal only flaws I have with it.
I’m a sucker for a good story in video games, and this has one of the most heart-wrenching, emotional guy punches of a story that doesn’t go into misery porn territory. I won’t go into it, since the game is best experienced blind, but it deals with themes we rarely see in video games, and even more rarely are they done well. I was a gibbering mess for days afterwards.
For a 5 hour-ish puzzle platformer to be one of my favorite games I’ve ever played based on the story alone, that’s pretty impressive. This is a must-play.
