3/5 ★ – Fishy's review of Bright Memory: Infinite.

This was a very short (finished it in 2 hours), but decent shooter. Its a very pretty game (great to test out my new PC) and an outstanding effort from such a small developer. In terms of gameplay feel it was about 80% of the way there. The guns felt great to fire and the levels were fun. The bosses stood out the most and were definitely the highlight. But I did have a few gripes with the game. The game felt like it had too many buttons. Some movements / key presses were a bit finicky / required odd hand placements. Some of these could have been simplified / added to the weapon wheel. This made the game feel a bit clunky. At times this game also felt a bit more cover shooter based than I would have personally liked. When it was melee / slow ranged enemies you could dash around and have fun like it was an arena shooter, but once the small bullet boys come out your stuck behind cover or getting peppered to death. Personally I would have liked them to be a little less accurate so you could still have high movement gameplay, encouraging you to keep shooting, hacking and slashing. The stealth section was also very meh. Overall a fun game, I enjoy these short ones a lot, but due to a few small gripes this one left me just content rather than wanting more. Excited to see how this developer improves on this with their future games.
