4/5 ★ – FiveDigitLP's review of Quantum Break.
Fun game! Remedy's stuff is unique and always provides for an enjoyable story.
The time abilities provided some unique mechanics that distinguished the gameplay from your average third-person shooter. Also, for someone like myself who is not that good at shooters (and was especially rusty in this case!), the slow ability after a dash was super helpful.
Some may find this tedious, but I almost always found it interesting locating the "collectibles" and getting to dig a little deeper into the story surrounding the events of the game. I feel like if one were to play the game without reading the emails or listening to the diaries, you'd really miss out on the richness of the world Remedy has created. The faux-science behind the time travel, time abilities, etc. flows pretty well and it was interesting getting to learn about the characters' discoveries.
Also, I'd be remiss if I failed to mention the "TV show" included in this. It wasn't as ground-breaking as all the fanfare lead us to believe back in 2016, but it wasn't terrible either. Getting to see some background on side characters and knowing choices I made in the main game (at least somewhat) affected how that turned out was satisfying. The acting in the episodes was rarely anything amazing, but it did its job and gave you a good sense of who these characters were and their motivations.
Quantum Break had some holes at the end that left me wondering a bit and the game itself stuttered sometimes during the in-game movie sequences for some reason, but overall it was really fun.
