5/5 ★ – Fokathepingvin's review of Signalis.

Undoubtedly one of the greatest games ever made, in my opinion. I genuinely do not think there has ever been a game that resonated with me so hard. It took me 3 playthroughs to finally collect my thoughts. The story itself, being told in a very interesting way, where it shows the perfect amount, where people dont find it cryptic, but can also make their own interpretations, The graphics are so beautiful. Everything looks so nice and i could just stare at random rooms from this game all day. The weapon design also stands out. Theres not a lot of weapons, but theres just so much thought behind them and it shows. The gameplay is stressful, as any good survivor horror game, but not frustrating. It just keeps you on edge at all times. This game also may have like some of my favourite puzzles in any game ever, just feels so rewarding solving them. The horror is so so so scary. It is the kind that crawls up in the back of your head, and doesnt let you stop thinking about it. The environments are so well made, and they make so much sense, because of how dreamlike they are. The soundtrack is so so beautiful, some of the songs are just constantly stuck in my head. The characters are not straightforwad, they harbour a lot of depth, hence why they are so interesting. I genuenly dont think I have ever related to a character as much as with Ariane. The developers just. Completely understand someone like her, and treat her story with so much dignity, positivity and respect, it is so outstanding to me. Her sitting alone on the train, wanting to break out, but not knowing how to and taking any chance she can get. God. The story itself is simply beautiful. The masterfully crafted world, which harbours so many interesting places and conflicts all just serve as a backdrop for what truly matters. Love. Each and every one of us have loved, but to love like this; to love through space and time, through gunsmoke and blood and screams of agony, to have someone who makes you want to go through all of the agony, just so that you can see them again. That is the point. Remember our promise.
