4/5 ★ – GabeG712's review of RoboCop: Rogue City.

Robocop Rogue City is a terrific game. Based on the characters and events from the 1987 original film. Rogue City follows Robocop fighting corruption and crime in Detroit. There are two sides to my reviews of this game. I watched the original film at a much younger age than I should've. So I have some nostalgia for the character. Likewise, I'm an unapologetic fan of cheesy, corny, over-the-top 80s action. When Robocop makes terrible one-liners, while others would cringe, I would cheer. With that context in mind, I was not expecting how well-made the gameplay in this game is. Shooting is stellar, popping heads and throwing criminals against brick walls is exhilarating. What I also appreciated was the unexpected RPG mechanics. You can tailor Robocop's skills to engineering, combat, slowmo, etc. Likewise, dialogue choices were important, affected the story, and were spliced into the narrative well. I expected a serviceable shooter with corny '80s action but found myself engaged by the tight scope, mechanics, and sincere reverence for the source material. Although the game lacks in terms of the presentation of NPCs and cutscenes, I still had plenty of fun cleaning the streets of Detroit as Robocop. Total Score: 8/10
