5/5 ★ – Gcordeirot's review of Halo Infinite.
First, the multiplayer. What a amazing experience. The gameplay is incredible, all the maps are fun, there are different modes, there are a lot of weapons, the physics work really well. It's all compliments. One positive thing is that they are listening to the community and improving things that weren't working so well like the battle pass system.
Then, let's talk about the campaign. I think it's the best gameplay in the entire series. The open world maps works really well, with some things to do (not a excessive ammount, so you don't get tired). You have freedom to do things when and how you want and it's amazing.
The vehicles work great and mainly the grapple adds a whole new mechanics, whether in exploration or combat. I had as much fun using it as moving with the webs in Spider-Man/Miles.
The story isn't the highest point, but it's nice to follow up. However, you need to know a lot of things from previous game, like 4 and 5, and they don't explain it to new players. I liked the interation between Chief and Weapon, as MC is more of a quiet and serious guy and Weapon is a new, naive and fun IA. I liked the pilot too, with his despair of only wanting to go home and always mad that it is in this situation.
I enjoyed the transition from first-person to third-person in the cutscenes, from the campaign and multiplayer. The art direction was very well done.
The biomes from the open world aren't diversive at all. Everywhere it's just the same forests and mountains. It's ok that you really are in one small piece from the world, but a snow and/or desert area would make a lot of difference and made the world even better.
Honorable mention to the Grunts, that are really fun. I laugh at lot at everything they said, whether teasing, cursing or cowardly running away.
In a very optism way, this is the BOTW of the shooting games. Microsoft is doing a great job of using the formula of a open world map with freedom and exploration. Now they have a Racing-BOTW in Forza Horizon, a FPS-BOTW in Halo Infinite, so what's next? A Covershooter-BOTW in Gears 6? A Space-GOTW in Starfield? We will know eventually, but if they keep improving, it will only be good things
