1.5/5 ★ – Ghosteyez's review of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

I played this game after playing games like Skyrim, Witcher 3, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and I would rank BotW below all of them. I actually got bored with the game, and after using the Master Sword a few times, I just couldn’t go on and ended up abandoning the game. It was partially my fault, because I was expecting a world like the other games I named before. But BotW is an empty and lonely world. Hardly any wild life roam the world; the enemies will either “randomly” appear out of the ground or is tethered to a camp. The world just didn’t feel “alive” unlike the other games mentioned before. I went into this game expecting full voice over, but I should’ve known better, considering this is Nintendo. Plus, when is Link going to get a voice? Skyrim came out in 2011, on PS3/360 and had complete VO; is it because the Switch can’t handle it? Before playing the game, I did not like the ideal of the weapons breaking over time. After playing the game, I still hate that decision. I remember going out of my way to get the Master Sword, because I thought I could just keep using that since it’s not going to break. But to my shock, it had energy that will run out, so you can’t keep using it. I like how in Assassin’s Creed, your character actually look like they are climbing. While in BotW, Link just looks like he is crawling on the ground. Once I got a set of weapons that I liked, there was no real reason to keep fighting enemies. I’m at full health, and I don’t need any more weapons, so I just ran past enemies. Now a lot of the issues I had with the game, is from my own fault. I was expecting more from the game, then what it was giving. This game is not an action adventure RPG style game. It’s more like a puzzle adventure game, with light action. I did like some of the puzzles and the different characters but that was pretty much it. I ended up forcing myself to play 20hrs+ of this game, but not enough to finish it. I still wanted to see the ending, so I watched someone speed run the game in like 5mins or so.
