4/5 ★ – Giggling's review of Touhou Luna Nights.
I think Touhou Luna Nights is a game that will shine best from its replay value. The core of the game to me, seems to be a mastery from repetition.
Bosses that once seemed impossible you can easily predict what there acts will be and you’ll only die of silly mistakes that always feel completely fair. The applies to the platforming as well.
Platforming in this game is really wonderful and it’s nice for once to not be confused on where to go in a Metroidvina throughout the whole games. You can logically assume where you haven’t been yet and that assumption usually leads you to the item you need to explore new area. New areas offer new challenges to over come with you new abilities. it’s very fun to breeze through areas with formally tough enemies and unique puzzles that took you a couple tries in previous runs.
It’s a very short and satisfying game that I best recommend when you’re in the mode for a short gratifying experience, after being burnt out on super long games.
I’m looking forward to my next replay and will try to complete it as fast as possible to test my skill and mastery.
