3.5/5 ★ – Gmanb1's review of Mario & Luigi: Brothership.
I have a LOT to say. Let’s start with the good. The graphics look great especially for a late stage Switch game, the music is great, the battle system is great especially the battle plugs which lets you add extra conditions onto your moves and use certain items without taking up a turn. The story is the best one in this whole franchise, I’ll go more in depth later. Now, the bad. The pacing is AWFUL, there is at least 7-10 hours of game you can cut out. The linearity is a weird quality as mostly every other game in this series is pretty expansive. Ok, now we get into the story.
MAJOR STORY SPOILERS COMING UP!!!
The theme of loneliness is a constant with the fear of Glohm, an element that makes everyone completely lonely. You use the power of bonds to fix people, the villain’s plan is so deranged it’s kind of funny. It is to force people to be in a dream world but be stuck in it so long they starve to death. THE FUCK? A great addition to this series albeit some BIG flaws.
