5/5 ★ – Goldenfox96's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Been playing this one since I was a kid. It might even be the first game I ever played if I’m honest. And what an introduction to gaming it was.
Replaying it as an adult, it hasn’t lost its charm and is still probably one of the best games I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing. The story is epic, intriguing and absolutely captivating. The characters engage you a unique medieval fantasy plot that takes you across the open lands of Hyrule. As you progress throughout the game you learn more about the characters and the world, and even yourself, with twists and turns that won’t necessarily shock you, but will definitely leave you with a deep love for everything this game is.
The gameplay also keeps up to measure playing as an adult. I like how you slowly unlock more and more powerful weapons which help you gain access to new places and find new secrets. As with most Zelda games you get more health by finding heart containers and just like the others, obtaining these varied and you either had to explore new areas, help characters in unique scenarios, or defeat incredible monsters to get them.
The biggest part of this game is the fact you think you’re halfway through, but then the story flips everything in its head. Suddenly you’re traversing time, and this mechanic becomes the core aspect of the game. It will leave you in tears, it will leave in amazement, just for the how the choices and consequences of going through time have on the story. And it expands the world in a massive way.
Truly a spectacle. A masterpiece.
