5/5 ★ – Grand_Momis's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
If there was one game that has defined my gaming passion over the years it’s none other than Ocarina of Time. It took me from 2011 to 2021 just to finish the game simply because I didn’t want it to end. I think as far as action adventure video games go, no game is half as influential as this one. Dungeons like the Great Deku Tree and Lord Jabu Jabu’s belly are truly unique in exemplifying this game’s unique visual storytelling and unique atmosphere. These dungeons aside, all other dungeons are filled with unique atmospheres, interesting puzzles, and unique bosses and enemies. The puzzles range from relatively straightforward to challenging your awareness of the dungeon layout and game mechanics. This game also has enemies be challenged in puzzling ways and patterns. This game’s introduction of lock on and targeting became standard in action games of today. Games like Dark Souls couldn’t exist without this mechanic and others introduced in this game. The soundtrack itself is a masterpiece composed by the one and only Koji Kondo. This can range from beautiful ballads like Great Fairy Fountain and the more haunting and atmospheric sounds like the themes of the Fire Temple and the Shadow Temple. The story is relatively easy to understand and effective. The dungeons and interesting characters/species help elevate and make this a unique take on high fantasy. With this games impressive gameplay, music, and atmosphere, it is easy to give this game a 5/5. I definitely recommend this for anyone who enjoys video games or art in general.
