Man what a disappointment. For Metal Gear Solid fans expecting an engaging story with memorable twists and turns, this game absolutely drops the ball. It takes a backseat to the gameplay, which is admittedly great. The main problem is that the gameplay is sandboxed to a bland open world(s), with mission structures that revolve around doing the same thing over and over and over and over again. I am aware that there was increasing conflict between Kojima and Konami during development and up to release, but that doesn’t excuse how pretentious and half baked this game feels outside of the gameplay. What a shame since the franchise is now left to die under Konami.
