4.5/5 ★ – Haharel's review of Avowed.

Avowed has a simple premise to me: have fun. The story was a 8.5 out 10, I actually had moments where I didn’t know what to choose because of the morality of certain choices. The God in the game was very well written and I didn’t know whether to trust them or not. The gameplay was fun and it got me to play with different styles, I usually like to play as magic user, but in here it felt powerful to be with an ax and a shield, the guns were amazing as well. I did find some problems though, as this is not a perfect game. The companions could’ve been better developed, outside of Kai, who was very charming, always commented on what was happening, Marius felt to me like he wasn’t there. In terms of world building, I really thought it was beautifully designed and each new map had interesting things to explore. In fact I caught myself ignoring quests just to see what was in that cave and how to open this door. In general the game has its flaws and some of criticism is valid, however, I had a blast. I didn’t care that I could not kill a chicken because it didn’t change the game for me. I recommend playing it simply because it’s fun. It’s entertaining. It’s a game with a simple premise, that all games should have in mind: have fun with it.
