Hello_there's review of Mafia II: Definitive Edition.

This was a really good game. I played the remake of the first one earlier this year, and I was not disappointed by the remaster of the sequel. The gameplay was honestly great. It had the normal feel and gunplay of the Mafia franchise. The only thing I can say I didn’t like about the gunplay, is how after using a gun, the gun stays up, instead of going down. You have to push another button in order to put it down. However I got over this after the first few chapters, and just kept the gun up all the time. The enemies are also very balanced, and don’t ever feel that annoying. It was fun taking them on, and I felt rewarded every time I won an encounter. The driving mechanics were very polished, and I feel it was ahead of its time with the speed limit/ police mechanics. The way you avoided the police too was very unique, with needing to change license plates or outfits. Made you want to avoid encountering them all together which I liked. The story was pretty good, however the third act felt very rushed. It kinda abruptly ends on a cliff hanger for Joe, and was less exciting and more annoying. The downfall of Vito also felt very sudden and rushed. With his sister and his relationship being ruined out of nowhere, and his house being attacked. It didn’t work for me and I felt it could’ve been a lot better. Graphics for this remaster were obviously great, voice performances were (no surprise) fantastic and made me love the characters. Sometimes there would be map glitches that lead to me falling through the map and having to restart, but it happened very few times (it was still an issue though during the last mission because it happened TWICE). The missions in this game were also insane, and feel like they (almost) one up the insane missions from Mafia 1 (almost I say). Overall, great game, and great entry in the mafia franchise. 8/10
