5/5 ★ – Hiper's review of The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series.

One of my Top 10 games of all time I've already played through the first 3 seasons but I never managed to play the final reason until now so I decided to play through it all again from the beginning. Season 1 — The main stand outs is Lee & Clementine and their relationship from him finding a random girl in a treehouse to sacrificing his final moments to track her down just to keep her safe. As they’re traveling and meeting different people and surviving they’re stuck hip to hip. His influence over clem and basically everyone is evident through out the game he’s basically the glue that holds it together. They is some other cool characters like Carly but she ends up meeting her fate early which I felt was a little rushed, Kenny is also a great addition but his involvement is way more important in season 2. I haven’t really got a bad word to say tbh the best bits is seeing lee’s and Clems relationship develop but then that falling short because Lee ends up getting bit looking for clem and having to see her put him down is nothing short of depressing, she then eventually goes of on her own and finds Christa and Omar. Season 2 — Now you’re playing as a slightly older clem and as you’re travelling you take a break and Omar gets shot and then there’s another timeskip and you’re left with Christa you’re eventually broken up and she’s gone and u don’t hear from her again, I wish they would’ve at least mentioned her once especially since you spend 2+ years with her, another group ends up finding her and she joins them, my favourite character from the group is Luke he takes quite a liking to clem instantly, as it goes on you eventually go to a place where you’re reunited with Kenny who you haven’t seen in years and you’re constantly torn with choosing who u side with out of Kenny and your new group, you see slot of development with Kenny he’s lost his family and he’s slowly losing it he gets way more aggressive as the season goes on especially after losing his girlfriend. Clementine is having to adapt at a scary rate constantly she’s forced to survive without Lee holding her hand you see her in dangerous situations constantly especially to progress for example the place which carver owns they wouldn’t of been able to get of there if it wasn’t for her. Rebecca eventually gives birth but she’s so ill she ends up dying so Kenny steps up and then the ending it’s basically you, Alvin, Kenny and Jane, you get shot and when u wake you’re in a car and you’re hearing them argue constantly and then it kicks of right at the end and you’re forced to choose and my first play through i chose Jane but I chose Kenny this time round he’s just way more mature and knowledgable than Jane and less likely to let u down. Jane was cool but she was out for her self where as Kenny took u under his wing for the most part. All though clems been forced to grow up I see the ending of season 2 is the place where her story properly starts shes gone from having to adapt fast to having to be a mother …brilliant season u see way more characters but for the most part they end up dying sadly or they just go and disappear like Bonnie which they never seem to mention again Season 3 — You start this season with a new main character called javi u basically stay and look after his family and u eventually meet up with clem she’s on her mission with is looking for AJ, her and Javis relationship is cool to see which kinda confuses me why we didn’t see or hear from him in the final reason it just self kinda pointless or even with Kenny either especially if u chose Kenny then waved goodbye to him and went to wellington u hear nothing from him he just disappears, I think this season would’ve been better if u played as clem and javi and his family were the side characters because this is clems journey and she kinda felt like the side character, I didn’t really care about Javis family tbh, u end finding out David, Javis brother, runs the final frontiers which is a group and they just do what they want. It was originally David that took AJ away from clem, eventually the town ends up getting over run and they eventually save it…my javi ends up taking over and that’s that, clem ends up leaving because she wants to find AJ and that’s about it. I didn’t hate this season but if it didn’t exist not much would change I mean the characters don’t even show up in s4 so what was the point? Season 4 — This is basically the season I wanted to do a review for because I’ve never actually played it so it’s fresh where as the other seasons aren’t…this season hit me like no other basically feeling like I’m on a rollercoaster constantly…I’ve never felt that with a game before I didn’t think it’d affect me this way I was constantly on edge though this last season I was sad at some of the moments through out the other seasons but this this makes those look like nothing, such a brilliant ending to a already brilliant game, I don’t even know where to start…you start off in a car but u end up in a train station but then it ends up booby trapped and as u try and escape it goes wrong u end up waking up in a school which is ran by kids and this is where it starts. You get everything in this season you see it all pay off whether that’s twists in the story or emotional/funny moments…they did a great job with AJ u basically shape how he behaves he’s hip to hip with clem like she was with Lee, the rest of the cast are great as well you see a lot of what they go though, u learn to be with a group again with the goal of staying in it this time, she obviously got bit near the end and that whole sequence has me very upset lol…I’m just glad that she was alive at the end. It’s just nice to see it ending with them 2 in a somewhat stable environment Her character: clementine has gone through so much trauma and hurt through out this series and to see her still fight and move forward is nothing short of amazing she’s the definition of a survivor, youre basically seeing her grow up and witnessing her journey throughout her life and her having to be a mother to AJ a boy who was born into this world and be a role model to him whilst carrying the world on her shoulders and still growing up her self, she has all this responsibility at 16 and she’s got no one to rely on for emotional support you see that when she has flash backs of Lee deep down you know she wants to give it all up and call it a day and yet she still pushes through and carry’s on she’s always having the world be tipped upside down on her like when David took AJ from her and spent 24/7 going after him and when she does get him back they’re stuck to each other like glue she takes everything she learned and she teaches that to AJ as well as teaching him right from wrong and to get along with others, you see how much even AJ is influenced by clem, she goes from a scared kid to a survivor to being a mother. I’d say she’s one of the best written characters in gaming. Conclusion:
