3.5/5 ★ – HomeVideoHustle's review of Marvel's Midnight Suns.

When I first downloaded the game, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. It’s not a normal, action game but one that is played with cards. I was a huge fan of the Pokémon Trading cards and the video game version so I figured this may be a fun throwback to those younger days and it was for a while. You play as a character named “The Hunter” and customize him or her to look however you want. You befriend other Marvel characters, fight Hydra goons, demons and familiar faces and in-between you are able to free roam and upgrade your Hunter. It may be weird to say but I felt the game was way too long. It started great and I was making friends and leveling up but after a while, I started to feel burned out and just wanted the game to wrap up. They make you play other missions in between story ones and like I mentioned before, you run around and collect stuff and upgrade. Many times I’d just want to get on with the story but be stuck with long stretches of filler. The gameplay is fun but again, it gets repetitive after a while. I so wish there was a skip or fast forward button to get past the animations that you will see over and over and having to let the enemies attacks play out after your turn just made me start picking up my phone and scrolling until it was my turn again. The plot is interesting though and what mainly kept me going. It was cool to see characters pop up and interact with one another and there are references and callbacks to things all around the Marvel universe if you are hip. It’s not a bad game but I just wish it was tweaked in a few areas.
