3.5/5 ★ – HunterAlThor's review of Dead by Daylight: Ash vs Evil Dead.

If you're looking for reviews, you're wondering if this groovy DLC is worth it. If you like Evil Dead and want to play as Ash? For sure! If you have no experience with Evil Dead (change that, at least watch ED2, it's the best horror comedy ever made) read on for a more thorough review: This chapter contains one survivor: Ash Williams. He's got as good of a likeness as the DBD engine can provide. He's voiced in the lobby by his legendary actor Bruce Campbell, and that carries over to his in-game screams and groans of pain. Ash is one of the louder characters in DBD, which will put you at a minor disadvantage when trying to hide while injured. Once you've played the game enough you realize good killers will spot you regardless though, so that negative is negligible and shouldn't keep you from wanting to play the grooviest survivor. Ash comes with three perks: 1. Flip-Flop. When downed your recovery progress converts to wiggle progress upon pick-up at a 50% rate. Very useful for builds with things like Boil-over and Power Struggle. 2. Mettle of Man. After taking three protection hits, your next hit that would put you into the dying state will give you an endurance effect instead. Very fun for altruistic builds, but there's been some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the perk the past few patches. Still fun to run though. 3. Buckle-Up. Actual trash. You will never run this outside of Ash's Adept. Seriously, it sucks. Re-work it BHVR. In addition, buying the chapter rather than just Ash for cells from the in-game shop will give you an additional cosmetic false hand for Ash in-game. So, would I recommend Ash? For fans, I don't think there should be any hesitation. Buy him. For newer players without any interest in the Evil Dead property, it's still a worthwhile DLC. However, I'd say Ash's perks aren't super beginner friendly, and as such I don't think he should be within the first batch of DLC purchases a new player makes if they're specifically buying chapters with the intent of unlocking perks. Put him maybe more towards the middle bottom of your list. Have a Groovy time, see you in the fog.
