4/5 ★ – IhavetheRayGun's review of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Replayed this yesterday since it was on Playstation Plus, and it was better than I remembered. I played this game on Day 1 on Xbox and even pre-ordered it. The game was really broken on last gen at launch, but playing 3 years later on next gen, the game runs smooth (with a few glitches here and there) and was a lot of fun. The campaign for being one of the shortest cod campaigns has a lot of detail to it. Good foreshadowing, fun side missions, and even cool easter eggs hidden in levels like the Activision arcade cabinets or the easter egg in the second to last mission where you can find a cave full of zombies. Though it isn't perfect because I thought you should have the option to capture or kill more targets. Also, Woods and Mason should not have been recast. I thought Woods' voice actor did a good job with what he was given, and I liked parts with him, like when he took down that mannequin on instinct thinking it was a soviet. Mason's voice actor, however, his performance was rather weird as he sounded nothing like Sam Worthington, and his preforming was flat. This game was rather inaccurate, but it was still a good story. Also, since in BO1, Mason was brainwashed to kill Kennedy, who decided it was smart to let him ANYWHERE near Ronald Reagan. I do think it was a cool detail. Reagan had the jelly bean jar with him, which he had irl when he quit smoking. His voice acting, much like John F. Kennedy in Black Ops 1 was great and sounded a lot like the real person. Hudson's voice was perfected in this game as his voice in the other two games he's in (BO1 and BO2) weren't great (no shade to the actors). Adler and all the other new team members (except maybe Lazar who did nothing at all) were nice additions to the team, and it would be nice to see them again in other entries. Revisiting Multi-player was a fun experience, and it was nice to see I wasn't the only one still using John Mcclane. The maps make it feel like a reimagined Black Ops 1. Zombies is a lot of fun, too. Overall, an 8/10. Maybe in my top 5 cod games.
