4/5 ★ – Imzzzy's review of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.

I was on the fence with getting this but the shift in 2023 with major franchises is unreal honestly. Jumped on the trend and bandwagon after I saw some smooth ass gameplay from it, and it did not disappoint in the slightest in that aspect. Gameplay is so refined and sharpened to perfection that every move I make feels so natural as if I'm actually in the mech. Its so immersive and enjoyable that I did not want to stop in some missions. I love enemy density but here it ever so slightly lacked that in some of the missions. A simple story, nothing we've not seen before, backed up by hard hitting emotional moments. Them moments make the slog worthwhile. Not something I've given care to many of the games from this year, but this one deserves some. The missions are standard too, the lack of variety in the enemies in these missions do suck but the bosses make up for it. They weren't a challenge apart from a few late game, however, keeping me on my toes whilst operating a multi functional mech is some of the most fun I've had this year. Dodging and weaving at the perfect time is the ultimate satisfaction in this game. So overall a great game with mixed aspects. Gameplays king. The shift in the game itself is clear and the new direction does work akin to FFXVI, I'm excited to see what comes next. - 4/5.
