4.5/5 ★ – IronPackfan's review of Borderlands 2: Game of the Year Edition.

After over 10 years of on and off play, restarting the campaign, switching consoles, and finally deciding to actually finish the campaign this time, I finally finished the campaign this time. Character of choice was Zer0 and I have zer0 complaints (badum tss). I like how there’s audio logs of each character that you can find throughout the areas to give each character more depth. This game had far better mechanics and guns. The introduction of slag weapons was great. I really think this game has the better campaign than the first game as Handsome Jack is a far better villain than Commandant Steel and is just more present as well. I loved seeing all the original characters from the first game come back (playable and non playable). Felt like the game had a lot of lore to stand on and it helped to mount the stakes. Really loved most of the missions, though I will say I had more fun with the side missions in the first game. They were just more fun and achievable and for some reason I was so drawn to continuing that game. Not sure why but I just was. Lots of crazy twists and character deaths. Handsome Jack certainly builds himself up as a menacing threat, and it’s the commitment to that menace that makes him so memorable. If he was a villain of empty threats, it wouldn’t have worked as good. I will say some bosses felt really tough and annoying. The threshers have to be the most irritating enemy type ever. I also felt like there were several instances where I was dying way too fast or the fight for you life segment just went by in a flash. Theres one boss fight at the halfway point that just was overly difficult for no reason. Overall though, I loved this game and I’m looking forward to the next ones…and hopefully the film is good too
