3.5/5 ★ – IronPackfan's review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

Gameplay is a step up from Order of the Phoenix and I guess the graphics might be too but not by much. The character models are so stiff and lifeless and there’s just the most awkward camera angles on them in cutscenes. Running is so weird as the screen goes blurry like Harry is the freaking Flash or something. Spell casting is more tolerable but the R3 commands are still kinda annoying. Story is the closest to the films out of all the game adaptations. This is easily the most tolerable and enjoyable game to play and isn’t some eye sore like Goblet of Fire or painful fetch quests like Order of the Phoenix. There’s multiple different types of gameplay like free roaming, dueling, potion brewing (freaking hate that one), and flying. Instead of beans (man I got sick of those in past games), the main collectibles are crests and mini tests which add up to full crests. There’s unlockable badges in the club meetings too. Trophy system is easy if you’re willing to find all the crests and get all the badges. Other than that, just complete the story and they’ll hand you a bunch. Super easy game. Duels are also way better now because your enemies actually have health bars for once. This is ironically the funniest game in the series. Moments like Harry asking Ginny to be his date to the Christmas party and then Ginny saying she’s going with Dean and a freaking RECORD SCRATCH sound plays. Some of the looks on Harry’s face are priceless when he’s talking to Lavender. The voice lines are terrible at times and the dude who plays Harry is awful but it’s hilarious. Overall, I remember having fond memories playing this on the Wii. Even fonder memories on the PS3.
