4.5/5 ★ – Isaac_Ashley's review of Titanfall 2.
Wow. Just wow. I went into Titanfall 2 expecting a fun shooter, but what I got was one of the best single-player campaigns I’ve ever played. From start to finish, it was an absolute blast—tight gameplay, incredible level design, and a story that pulled me in way more than I expected. There’s almost nothing to complain about.
The movement and shooting mechanics are some of the smoothest in any FPS. Wall-running, double-jumping, and sliding feel perfect, making every fight fast and fluid. And the combat? Absolutely top-tier. Whether you’re on foot as a Pilot or inside BT-7274, every encounter is a rush. The Titan combat is especially satisfying, giving you that perfect mix of power and strategy.
The level design is also insanely good. Every mission throws something new at you, from massive set pieces to mind-bending mechanics (if you’ve played Effect and Cause, you know what I’m talking about). It keeps things fresh the entire way through, and not a single moment feels like filler.
And then there’s the story. I didn’t expect to get attached to a Titan, but somehow, BT-7274 became one of the best companions in gaming. The bond between him and Jack Cooper gives the campaign so much heart, making the big moments hit even harder. By the time the credits rolled, I just sat there, wishing there was more.
Sure, there are a few clunky moments, but for a game that came out in 2016, the mechanics and graphics still hold up really well. It’s an FPS campaign that sets a very high bar, and honestly, I don’t think many have come close since.
If you haven’t played Titanfall 2 yet, you need to. It’s one of the best shooter campaigns ever made, and it deserves every bit of praise it gets.
