4/5 ★ – Itsgrimsby's review of Grand Theft Auto III - The Definitive Edition.

Despite being very janky and showing its age in more ways than one, I had a great time with GTA 3. The whole experience of playing it feels like a throwback, it’s so stripped back from the experiences we have with gaming today, and yet at its core it knows that the formula just works. There’s not a lot of depth to the game; whether it be from the barebones story and silent protagonist, to the janky shooting and throwable weapons, and as I keep saying it is still fun. It reminds me that despite how far we’ve come with the evolution of video games, a game will always live and die by its core gameplay loop. I’m glad I finally played this classic, especially ahead of Grand Theft Auto 6 finally releasing next summer.
