4.5/5 ★ – Jesusvol's review of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
I don't think I've ever been so conflicted with a game before, right up until a couple of hours ago (when I had still yet to beat the final boss) it was definitely one of the best games I've ever played, I felt like a child playing it, something that a lot of games nowadays fail to make me feel. I didn't care that the story was somewhat basic, it worked for what the game was going for, the combat while easy to understand, it was hard to master and the difficulty of the basic enemies scaled in a natural way which is good. But by far my biggest compliment has to be the exploration, you can go ANYWHERE and find new stuff without anyone telling you that it was there, and that's something that I don't think any game that I've played ever achieved to do.
So with all that in mind I was ready for it to become a top 10 game for me, there were even points where I considered it the best one I've played... But then the ending happened, and don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with it, it was epic, it made me use every gun I had in my arsenal and the final line in the game was just absolute perfection... The game ends and this is SPOILERS but I'm there, ready for the post-game and realize that there isn't any, you reload your save and Ganon is still there, and I don't know if this is a stupid complaint but it makes everything that I previously did feel useless, Link didn't save Hyrule, Ganon will always be there no matter what you do, and that ultimately killed my enjoyment of the whole game, something very simple that they still managed to fuck up, my dissapointment is unmeasurable and my day is ruined.
Still amazing game as a whole tho.
