4.5/5 ★ – JetDusk's review of Batman: Arkham Knight.

I understand why everyone dislikes this entry. The bat mobile is excessive, and a certain returning character that’s been in the series from the start wasn’t wanted either. The Arkham Knight as well as his identity is also a huge letdown that would be obvious to anyone with slight knowledge of Batman. I only expected something different the first time I played since Rocksteady had lied and said it would be an original character, so keep that in mind. But I know the biggest complaint was the overuse of the Bat-mobile. I understand the hate, but I’ve come to really enjoy it in this game, it adds variety to the gameplay and it isn’t half assed. A new gameplay style that was fleshed our is welcome in a franchise with overall minor changes between each game in what you do overall. After City, there wasn’t much more they could add, so the focus on the Bat-mobile is fine in my opinion. This probably has my favorite combat just for the raw speed and power Batman is packing in this entry, it’s the most brutal it’s ever been and I love how fast and chaotic it gets. I understand being turned off by the difficulty, but it’s what a player like me wanted from the series finale. I don’t think there are that many Predator challenges in this one, and the best addition worth noting is the Fear Takedown, since it’s awesome. But I can’t say much more than they didn’t break what didn’t need to be fixed. The Bat-Mobile controls well, it’s fast, it’s fun, but I can agree with too many tank battles. One thing I love about this game the most is the ridiculous feeling of Batman single handedly destroying an entire private army, complete with tanks, plus his the biggest members of his rogue gallery, PLUS taking them all down non-lethally, AND ALL IN ONE NIGHT. It feels great hunting down each new and old villain and locking them up in a cell after a Bat-mobile delivery. It’s probably my favorite feeling from the whole series. The story is very disjointed and all over the place. I feel you ignore serious problems for way too long, and fair enough Bruce is just one man, but he also denies help from the Bat Family all throughout (I understand the reasons why, it’s still just frustrating. I think Nightwing could take down Penguin just fine on his own). Now, the DLC. Jesus Christ. This game has so much fucking DLC. Most of it is the amazing costumes. There are also the amazing car models from 1960s Batman to the Tumbler, with their own unique tracks. All that is fantastic. But. Then there is the story DLC and Challenge packs. Instead of reviewing them individually it’s all just gonna be here to save me time. I’ll talk about the best first, A Matter of Family. Batgirl is super fun, her story has the most overall content, and it has a fun new environment to explore. Best of the dlc, and it gets 4 Stars (or 8/10). The Harley Quinn story is alright, Harley herself is fun to play as too. It’s just kind of boring overall. 3 Stars (6/10). Red Hood is just three challenge missions, it barely counts as a story, but if you like Red Hood it’s okay. And I do. 3.5 Stars (7/10) These next three kind of suck so just gonna say: Catwoman Revenge (2/10) Dumb and annoying. The predator room takes too long and the combat encounter had stupid environmental hazards. Riddler is hilarious. Nightwing GCPD Lockdown (3/10) It would be better if it wasn’t annoyingly difficult. Robin Flip of a Coin (5/10) Not much to say beyond it’s kinda boring. I like playing as Robin so it’s still fun. The DLC challenge rooms from the community are stupid and nearly impossible, so I wouldn’t bother, especially for total completion you’ve got 8 different characters to do it with. Speaking of, character Tier List. 1.) Batman. Obviously. 2.) Azrael. Pretty sure he’s just Arkham City Batman with a few Arkham Knight mechanics. 3.)Robin. He’s cool and really fun. 4.)Batgirl. She is also Cool and really fun. 5.)Red Hood. Personally he’s one of my favorites just for his animations. Gun-kata is awesome, but I felt his moves should have had blood effects. His move set is all super limited compared to everyone else. 6.)Harley Quinn. If you like her a lot, you’ll love playing as her, her moveset is just too limited for me. 7.)Nightwing. He’s okay, it’s just some moves take too long before you can react again. 8.)Catwoman. I still don’t like playing as her. Anyway, I still think this game looks great, it’s really fun, and it’s hated too much. It is obnoxiously big and prone to crashing, but it certainly has a wealth of content to keep customers satisfied.
