3.5/5 ★ – JetDusk's review of Grabbed by the Ghoulies.
This game isn’t what most would call a great game, but I have a small history with it. Having wanted to play it for a long time since it was a spooky cartoon game, it was nice to finally play it after so long.
The game is very... average. The combat controls are unique in that you attack enemies by... holding the right thumb stick in the direction you want to attack. This means you can’t control the camera, and this is the biggest hurdle to actually enjoying the game.
If you get past the controls, each room poses a unique challenge once you enter, and it can range from fun to incredibly frustratingly painful. Especially the platinum for the special challenges.
The secret hard mode is nearly impossible at some points, it baffles me how they thought it was okay.
Despite ragging on the game a lot, there is something to enjoy here, so give it a shot if you like spooky games that are more silly than terrifying. Don’t feel bad if you don’t like it though, there are genuine design issues at play with this title.
