3/5 ★ – JetDusk's review of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.

After owning this game since it came out, and repeatedly starting and stopping playthroughs, I finally sat down to finish it all at once alone. These are typically best with friends since they’re so simple, but that ironically drives people away from playing it if it doesn’t hold their attention long enough. Besides my personal issues, I was excited to see a new game after MUA2 made up a large portion of my Xbox360 days. I was into super heroes before the MCU because of these games, and seeing how dramatically this game was designed around the MCU while being its own thing was strange. It’s not bad, but it leaves a bad taste in the mouth since those decisions were made for business over fan enjoyment. I will say there were a few characters I didn’t recognize at all like Crystal and Elsa Bloodstone. It’s nice to see unknown characters get some spotlight, but otherwise the cast has nearly every important Marvel character from Spider-Man to Wolverine. The main issue with this game is that while there are far more characters here than any other MUA, (especially with DLC) the combat has been dumbed down further by removing combos and only having 4 moves per character. A disappointing discovery to say the least. While the game is very casual, it does have quite a bit of content and challenge missions that I had fun with for awhile. In my opinion, try some of the other games instead of this one. The second one covers the Civil War story from the comics, and it was fun and well crafted.
