The most ambitious TES game, its extremely gigantic, it has one of the best character creation systems in the genre and it expands immensely over Arena, but its also pretty shallow, which can seem like quite contradictory sentences, but it applies greatly when it comes to this game. One of the huge problems it has, is that it is pretty much an rpg with an extensive focus on dungeon crawling. Why it sucks? because the dungeons are utterly garbage and are all randomly generated, being overly gigantic and most of the times its pretty difficulty to map your way out. Sometimes objectives are generated out of bounds, in others, critical npcs bug behind walls and most of the times you wont be able to easily get out of a dungeon without the recall spell, which forces your character at investing on magic. whats the problem on that? you dont have enough spell points to be able to cast anything without picking a certain advantage that give you 3x the int you have in SP. the game pretty much forces you into being a spellcaster or suffering the consequences. Aside from that and the fact progression pretty much pushes you into the spam direction, theres a wide variety of possible builds and you can pretty much make whatever the character you want (again, you still will be handcapping yourself without the ability to cast recall) The plot also has quite a bit of flexibility with 6 possible endings depending on a choice you make later on, the plot itself isnt all that interesting due to the huge ammount of exposition dumps thrown at you and the main quest is level gated, which means you simply can take a lot of time to actually finish the MQ. All in all, daggerfall is an interesting experiment, but it didnt suceed and its mostly a quite dissapointing rpg with a lot of potential, sometimes its fun, sometimes way too much frustration but it never will really blown your expectations, again, aside from its sheer scope and its character creation system. it ultimately demands a lot of time and its quite of a waste.
