4/5 ★ – KHFanXIII's review of Darksiders: Warmastered Edition.

The Darksiders series is one marred with some pretty hefty developmental issues over the years, but I'm not going to get into that here. I'll start with my journey with the series. I first played this game way back in 2013, prior to the next-generation of consoles coming out. I remember enjoying it, but I didn't get very far and was struggling with the combat as well as getting lost. 12 years later, I have finally returned to the game, as a part of the Warmastered edition on PS4. Do I still have the same problems? Can a 15 year old game of the 7th generation of consoles still hold up? Well, spoilers, but I loved this game. As a huge fan of 3D Zelda pre-BOTW and classic God of War this game scratched all the right itches for me. Combat was a little hard to get used to at first, but I was eventually picking off enemies left and right without ever taking any damage. And I never got lost once, I dunno what was wrong with 2013 me other than being a dumb teenager, but this is not a game where I had any trouble, even with the many puzzles in the dungeons. Speaking of, yes this is a legit Zelda game with DUNGEONS. This is so fucking cool as I had no clue it was that much like it. You gain access to these dungeon items which help you progress through the dungeon AND helps you find Lifestone Shards (Heart Pieces) and other collectibles in the overworld. The combat was enjoyable, but man this aspect of the game is what truly made me fall in love with this game. Story-wise, I didn't really care much for it. It's fine, there's nothing wrong with it, and I was casually interested, but it just wasn't very engaging to me. The end scene with *SPOILERS* the other 3 horsemen coming was VERY hype though, although I know they haven't yet resolved it yet as future games haven't progressed past this game story-wise. Overall, this game is really good and a must play for anyone who is craving more pre-BOTW 3D Zelda goodness.
