5/5 ★ – KHFanXIII's review of God of War III: Remastered.

God of War III lives up to the hype and more. This game really feels like the culmination of all the games prior, giving this feeling of it being the ultimate God of War experience. Just from starting out, I was blown away by how graphically impressive and cinematic it was. For a game that came out in 2010, I was astonished at how well it still held up and just how good it looked. Playing it you immediately notice improvements. Everything just feels so much more smooth and fluid. The animations for everything (from rolling, to wall climbing) just feel so much less rigid and flow much better. And this game's scope is just crazy. The epic spectacle of the fights are just jacked up to 11 and it's like cocaine to me man, it was amazing. Going into the combat, I was happy to see that the weapon variety in this game was actually pretty good. Previous games in the series have experimented with other weapons, but usually they were all much worse than the Blades you have. This game each weapon actually feels like it has its use, and feel like viable options in combat. I actually completely switched to the Nemean Cestus once I obtained it and never used the Blades of Exile afterwards. The puzzles in this game felt a lot more clever than the previous games. I had a few that actually required some thinking on my part and I especially loved the perspective puzzle in the garden. Level design is also something I have to commend. Tons of varied locations and they all loop around to each other which is actually quite impressive to see. My only major gripe, is that some of the audio just sounded bad? Like the dialogue in some of the cutscenes just sounded like, badly compressed or like the audio was artificially amped up and it introduced some sort of artifacting in the sound. It was very odd and did throw me off initially, but I adjusted. Story-wise, it's really good. I'm not sure if it's my favorite in the series, but it definitely has a lot of great moments. I wasn't a huge fan of the explanation for the God's behavior they threw in at the end tho. Felt like kind of a copout. Overall, this is the best game in the series I've played and a certified BANGER. Can't imagine it gets better than this.
