3/5 ★ – KHFanXIII's review of inFAMOUS Second Son.

I was excited to play inFAMOUS Second Son back around its release. It was one of the first PS4 games I played and, being a big fan of the series, I was pumped to play the first next gen entry. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't star Cole, but with the cool new powers, I was willing to overlook it. I remember enjoying it, but it was over 10 years ago since I last played it. The question is now, does it still hold up all these years later? Well... Gameplay-wise, the new powers are really fun. Smoke, Video, and especially Neon are all really cool and allow you to really do some awesome things. I do have a few nitpicks though. While these powers are really neat, stuff like Neon and Video feel a bit too out there and conceptual for the types of powers established to exist in this universe prior to this game. It's not a huge deal, but it did strike me as odd coming off inFAMOUS 2. Another one is, they basically eliminated the reason to fight any enemies outside of main story missions. Upgrades are only doled out to you by collecting Blast Shards; there is no experience system in this game. Meaning there really is no reason to fight the various mobs around town. Again, a nitpick, but it did kind of bug me. Story-wise, the game is okay. It's not the worst story and, while I did prefer Cole, Delsin is a fine protagonist. I wish the game was longer tho, as it felt a lot shorter than 1 & 2. Overall, this game is okay. It didn't reach the heights of inFAMOUS 2 and, while not bad, isn't really a worthwhile play for someone. Just look up the cool Neon power on YouTube.
