3/5 ★ – Kalle_Deimos's review of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse.

TLDR: Good game! Lots of fun! But too difficult. Not 'git gud' difficult either. It's "make one mistake and perish" difficult. Gameplay: Level based just like Castlevania 1 except now there is multiple routes and characters. This is an awesome addition to give some great replay value and variety to a game that may feel stale otherwise. Grant, Sypha and Alucard are wildly different and are better suited for different routes and gameplay styles. I personally prefered Grant's wall climbing. Other than that, it's a classic Castlevania. Except it's really hard, so hard that it can feel like bullshit. My favorite is going down a path, beating a boss, the boss does not spawn an orb and then I have to backtrack through the stage. Very fun and cool. There's a section in Dracula's castle where building blocks fall and you have to avoid them and it takes FOREVER to build to the top. Enemy placement is crazy too and it's just overall a very very difficult game for a new player. Story: There's some story and dialogue with the other characters. Other than that it's a Castlevania prequel with Trevor Belmont who I wished we could see more of. Graphics: Pretty good! NES game. Not much to say tbh. Sound: Some classic tracks here such as Mad Forest and Clock Tower. Also the opening level is an iconic track. Extra: There's different routes and characters to change up different playthroughs. And depending on which route you take you start in a different place in the castle. Favorite Thing: Probably Grant. He has a very unique playstyle that I've never seen in an NES game. Not My Favorite Thing: Dracula is playing DIRTY this time. FILTHY even.
