4/5 ★ – Kalle_Deimos's review of Castlevania.

TLDR: The classic challenge still stands tall even though the later segments are bullshit. Gameplay: I think it's very impressive that such an old game can still be very satisfying and challenging in a modern age. The level design is iconic in my opinion, and there's something that's so good about Simon's slightly delayed whip, hit stun and kill effects. Every choice by the player feels deliberate and weighty, making it extremely satisfying. Simon has a fantastic kit to work with in Castlevania, so even at the harder sections I feel like Castlevania poses a genuine challenge instead of stupid NES bullshit. Although there is some in those final levels, I feel like they arn't completely unreasonable. With enough practice and strategy, I think you can make this game WEEP. Story: Dracula !!!! Im gonna knock your fucking head off !!! Graphics: Holds up pretty well for an NES game. Extra: No extra content. Besides the 2nd quest. But who is gonna do that. Favorite Thing: Holy Water III is the best thing ever. Not My Favorite Thing: First phase of Dracula got me SLEEPY.
