3.5/5 ★ – Kalle_Deimos's review of Mega Man ZX Advent.

TLDR: My Mega Man journey has finally ended. The consensus? It's was good. Gameplay: There is SO MANY forms to play as. Too many. While I appreciate the novelty of playing as the boss robots, they are all pretty weird and usually only have one use. I would have preferred less forms with more abilities than many abilities split across numerous forms. This is especially true when you get almost all of them and you spend ages scrolling to the right form. The bosses are fine, the level design and map design are really good. And the sidequests and collectibles are lacking. Basically a step-down from ZX. Story: I gotta hand it to the later Mega Man writers, they are not shy about straight up killing characters all the time. Advent has one of the better MM plots imo because it has the "Game of Destiny" / "Mega Man King" plots which are ridiculous but at least brand new. But of course it's a guy who wants to be god at the end right? Graphics: Looks good! But I can't take those anime cutscenes seriously. They look crisp at least. Sound: The voice acting is laughable. Like, cheap anime dub for kids voice acting. When I first heard the voice acting I got jumpscared, I was not anticipating it. Especially on a DS game, but I will admit, the actual audio quality is crisp. The music and sound effects however. Not very memorable. Extra: Like I said. Sidequests and collectibles are eh. Not much in terms of upgrading your power and it's a real bummer because new things are the best parts of MM games. Favorite Thing: Grey going "AHHHHHH" whenever he beat a boss. Not My Favorite Thing: You don't get the ZX form until 2/3rds into the game and that's no good.
