5/5 ★ – Kalle_Deimos's review of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
TLDR:
I am completely biased. I have played this game more than I should have over my whole life and I still get the taste to come back constantly. Whatever flaws it has, I've become completely accustomed to it. And I love it.
Gameplay:
I love the structure of OoT and the variety of dungeons within it. It has shaped how I see fantasy adventure for the rest of my life. I will always see a natural progression between the forest, volcano and water area. I love the temples too. Even the water temple. I love how theyre all themed after those same concepts. Forest Temple. Fire Temple. Water Temple. Shadow Temple. Spirit Temple. I love all of them. I love how there is 5 of them too. Makes the game feel full. We even get bonus dungeons like the Bottom of the Well and Gerudo Training Grounds. I love switching between time periods. I love reaching Ganon's Tower because I get to do the run-around with the temples with these themed mini-dungeons. Everything in this game is neuron activation. I love this game so much. It's my eternal happy place.
Story:
I love the story. Seeing all these characters after a 7 year time jump is interesting and I love seeing how they live their lives now. I love how certain youngsters are adults now, Malon even gets her own special treatment and has become a big fan favorite. I love Ganondorf's depiction and the mid-game twist. I love running into Shiek, who is always mysterious yet helpful. So many characters get some type of development and I love seeing them all.
Graphics:
The game looks fantastic. Nerrel said it best when he said that OoT 3D looks like the art leapt from the page. It's vibrant, it's detailed and it's got that 3DS charm that I love oh so much. I love the little details in certain characters. Did you know that Ganondorf's hair grows out between the 7 year time skip? He's got a full-grown mullet babie. This is also my favorite look that Link has ever had. The tunic is perfect and his hair is what I wish I had. I also love putting on the Goron Tunic and Zora Tunic just to change up the colors. I love having basic color alts for characters. It's so interesting to see them in a different shade, just to see. Environments feel so lively, NPC's are so expressive. I feel like I am interpreting everything the developers wanted me to clearly with their great work on this title.
Sound:
I love the soundtrack. I remember every track by heart and think every single one perfectly encompasses the tone of the situation. Personal favorites go out to, The Forest Temple, Gerudo Valley, Castle Town, Kakariko Village, Potion Shop, Song of Storms, Zora's Domain and GORON CITY. YOU KNOW I LOVE THE GORON'S BABY. GIVE YOUR SWORN BROTHER A BIG GORON HUG.
Extra:
I love collecting pieces of hearts, earning the Biggoron's Sword, Golden Skulltula's, Mini-games, Fairy Fountains. EVERYTHING. And there's a Master Quest which not only ups the difficulty but changes the layout of all dungeons??? DUDE. DUDEEEE.
Favorite Thing:
The whole game. This may be the one game that I love completely and unconditionally. I think this love can only be matched by a child. My literal flesh and blood.
Not My Favorite Thing:
I guess combat has you waiting around a lot.
