3.5/5 ★ – Krabawiwi's review of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim.
The presentation/art style is what got me interested in the first place, and the game was consistently beautiful, and the music was pretty nice too.
The story's good kinda hard to keep up with bc long and complicated time travel stuff, but not bad by any means. Since I'm playing for the story though, it gets very annoying when the game halts your progression in the story mode and forces you to play the TRPG mode, which is why I switched to Casual mode halfway through to breeze through it. There's about 30 stages total, and even on casual it felt like kind of a drag since it was just "Click on the move that kills the most enemies" or "Use the brawlers for the bosses". Not completely unenjoyable though, I liked upgrading my characters and seeing them in action after but that's about it.
I loved the characters, they were fun to watch especially TSUKASA AND HIJIKATA RAAAAAAHHH RIPS OFF MY SHIRT honestly they were the only good romance I did NOT gaf about any of the other ones, especially the one involving Ogata. Given the ending of the game and how these are all teenagers, the romances made sense they were kinda necessary but the game tries really hard to force a chemistry between them and some of them are NOT cute LOL. Idk how Yuki and Natsuno weren't endgame, I was pretty disappointed by them.
The English voice acting is top notch, but sometimes the plot twists get very obvious when you use your ears and realize some characters share a voice actor.
Overall it's an alright game. It's a fun time and you'll probably find at least a few characters you'll enjoy.
