4.5/5 ★ – Krypt2k's review of Binary Domain.

Binary Domain is without a doubt a fantastic game and a hidden gem in my honest opinion. It is set in the year 2080, where an organisation in Japan has created AI that has gotten dangerously out of hand, to the point where it has now become threatening to man kind. So a group of soldiers set out to Japan to assess the situation. The story is brilliant and well thought out and there's a lot to uncover as you play along. Where as most 3rd person cover based shooters are considered to be 'Gears of War clones', the developers on this game put a lot of effort into this and tried to make it innovative. There's a lot of cool features implemented in this game such as the tactical command post where you use your credits to buy ammo, grenades, or different upgrades for your weapons. You can buy upgrades for you or your squad mates which is nice. There is also a microphone feature which allows you to give commands through your microphone to which your teammates will respond to and I think this is a nice little touch that I haven't seen in any game before. Your AI teammates will respond to call outs as long as you build their trust and friendship up. This all depends on the dialogue options you choose. If you pick the wrong one, they will start to lose trust in you later on thus not reacting to your call outs, and I think that's another sweet feature. I also like the fact you can choose which squad mates to bring with you on missions. It allows you to get to know characters better and gives you the chance to build up that friendship I was talking about. The movement is very smooth and fluid, gun-play feels great. I get the feeling of actually feeling strong and powerful when killing robots and it's actually satisfying to pop their heads off or to detach their legs and watch them helplessly crawl away. Every weapon is useful and will enhance your gameplay experience. Assault riles, shotgun, RPG, sniper rifle, frag grenades, decoy grenades, sticky grenades and a shock blast attached to the end of your rifle. Everything that'll help me feel stronger on the battlefield. Stronger against the already strong army of pissed off robots. Some are bigger and meaner than others. There's a lot of awesome boss fights to handle. Non-stop action, non-stop FUN! Overall, an enjoyable experience, very engaging and a game that's 100% worth your time.
