3.5/5 ★ – Lammy's review of SAMURAI WARRIORS 5.

Samurai Warriors 5 post-plat review: There are few things in gaming that can hit the same level of serotonin as a really good musou game. Killing thousands of enemies with a few simple inputs is always satisfying, as long as the game's other systems work well around that core gameplay loop. And friends, I can confirm that this game does work as intended. Functioning as a sort of soft reboot for the Samurai Warriors subseries, we play through the rise and fall of Oda Nobunaga as he seeks to unite Japan under his banner. There's no weird open world stuff like what killed Dynasty Warriors 9, and the game performs well in every mode unlike Hyrule Warriors Definitive. It can be quite grindy, but even this is less apparent than in other musou games. The only real downside is the Citadel Mode that you need to complete to get certain event unlocks overstays its welcome to a massive extent. If it wasn't as big a part of the game's content, this would get an 8 or an 8.5, but it's still a pretty incredible 7.5 out of 10.
